Something not working?
Write to [email protected]. It is a small project, so it's a person reading it, and you should expect a reply within a few days.
If something is broken, the three things that help most are: what you did, what happened instead, and your iOS version. A screenshot is worth more than all three.
Questions the app tends to raise
Why only paper books?
Because the thing pagemoth measures — that you sat down and read for forty minutes — is already measured for you on a Kindle or in a podcast app, and isn't measured anywhere for a physical book. Pages are the one unit that means the same thing on every shelf. Ebooks and audiobooks are deliberately out.
Why does it ask me to confirm the page count?
Because the page count is the denominator of everything else: percent complete, pages remaining, time left, projected finish, and your pace all divide by it. About a third of edition records have no page count at all, and where two sources both have one they can disagree by as much as 42% — different editions of the same book genuinely have different numbers of pages.
A missing page count is visible. A wrong one silently corrupts every statistic in the app. So you confirm it once, at the moment you add the book, when you have the book in your hand.
The page count for my edition is wrong.
Change it on the book's detail screen. It overrides whatever the catalogue said, and every figure recalculates — nothing derived is stored, so there is no stale number left behind.
I read past midnight. Why does it still count as yesterday?
The reading day starts at 4am, not midnight. Reading in bed past midnight is the single most common time people read, and a midnight boundary would break your streak for exactly the behaviour the app is trying to reward. A session at 00:40 counts toward the day before.
How do streaks work?
A streak is consecutive days with at least one session — not consecutive sessions. Three sessions in one evening is one day, not three. It uses your device's timezone and the 4am boundary above. There are no freezes or grace days.
I fell asleep and logged zero pages. Did that ruin my average?
No. A session with no pages still contributes its time — falling asleep over a book is real reading time. Sessions under two minutes are left out of your pace, because they are usually a mistap rather than reading.
Does it work without a signal?
Completely. Starting a session, ending one, adding a book and editing a log entry all finish against the copy on your phone before anything touches the network. Syncing happens quietly afterwards. Reading on a plane is a normal Tuesday for this app.
Will my iPhone and iPad stay in step?
Yes, once you sign in — that is what signing in is for. If the same book gets a different current page on two devices, the most recent edit wins.
Do I have to make an account?
No. The app works fully without one, and nothing leaves your phone until you sign in. Signing in only buys you a second device and a backup.
How do I delete my account?
From inside the app, in settings. It deletes your data from our servers outright and revokes the Apple sign-in, then asks whether you want to keep or wipe the copy on your phone. See theprivacy page for exactly what is held and removed.
Where is it? I can't find it on the App Store.
It isn't out yet. Pagemoth is being built for iPhone on iOS 26 and later, and will be free at launch. iPad and Android come after iPhone — leave an address on thehome page and we'll write once, when yours is ready.
